Hello, it’s been a long time. This post is just to talk about the dramas I’ve started, but never got to finish. Some of them I dropped because they were just getting too boring or disappointing, and/or because I just didn’t feel like watching them anymore. And a few of them, I dropped, but really want to finish them sometime in the future, whether it’s because people said they were good, or just for the sake of completing them. Here are the dramas that are on my list of “to finish”:

  • My Name Is Kim Sam Soon
  • Delightful Girl Choon Hyang
  • Bad Guy
  • That Winter, The Wind Blows
  • Time Between Dog and Wolf
  • High School King of Savvy
  • Fated to Love You
  • Discovery of Romance

Three Days: Final Episode

Oh my god, it’s the last episode already… HERE WE GO.

Please, don’t die, President Lee Dong Hwi. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

He better not die. He’s not going to die, right? He’s the main character!!!

That’s my brother’s birthday. O_O

What?

OMG, the explosives where taken out of the truck. THANK GOD.

“I survived.”

I feel so bad for these men. What ๊ฐœ๊ณ ์ƒ are they going through? ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Of course, they all died. *weeps*

T___T

He’s going to resign anyway. He’s not going to be president any longer…

The president protects his citizens.

Haha, the irony of it all. Like the current Korean president and her predecessors thought that way. The sad truth that only two of them did.

Ah, I really hope that lady who helped the president doesn’t die. The preview showed the explosive control case being hidden under her feet. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

What’s the prime minister being all mad about?

Oh, okay. He’s worried about the president’s safety.

I wonder if the Yangjinri incident is real, or something like that really happened. Did they make the tower specially for the drama?

OH GOD. What are you doing now, Kim Do Jin???

Smart moving, Tae Kyung.

Ah, damn it. That was probably too short.

Wait, is that the last scene that we were shown a few episodes ago? On March 14th, at 20:30? O_O

Oh no, the second bomb.

Agreed.

Well, it doesn’t really matter ย if you hand out your life. He’s going to kill more people even after you die.

OH SHIT. Another bomb went off. He’s going crazier by the second.

Oh no, this time actual casualties.

Aw, the guy who’s reporting all of this looks so sad. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

You’re kind of late, Yoon Bo Won. :/

Oh, I guess it’s the third bomb they’re going to hide the control case to.

So what if they found him? Can they actually stop him? It’s not going to be that easy.

SHIT. WTF?

It’s someone else!!!

NOPE, it’s not him. He doesn’t die that easily!!! GRRRR…

Told you so. IT’S NOT HIM… *cries in disappointment*

Who was the one that was sacrificed?

Oh, shit. Our president’s mad.

I think he’s one of Kim Do Jin’s henchmen.

Ten minutes is too short…

“What could be the last ten minutes of my life…”

Oh, you’re going after him and leaving the bomb work to the others.

OH GOD DAMN IT.

SHIT SHIT SHIT…

TOLD YA SO. THAT MAN IS CRAZY. He doesn’t keep his promises, either, LOL.

(LOL, why is his henchman surprised at that?)

Good shooting, Tae Kyung. You’re the only one I’ll trust with a gun.

OMG, he got shot. Then shoots back and kills the guy. O_O

Oh no, is he a criminal now?

Wait, there’s another bomb left, isn’t there?

The lady survived, with her daughter! (Why is the daughter so young?)

WHAT? What bomb he did he take? The one that they hid so well???

OMG, he’s going to take it to die with Kim Do Jin. That would be epic, actually. XD (Bittersweet, let me tell you though.)

Yeah, when did he start planning all this?

WTF, they can’t set it off there!

LOL, he’s so badass.

“PUSH IT IF YOU WANT TO.”

Hahahaha. ๋ฏธ์นœ๋†ˆ.

Too bad they didn’t make Falcon seem like that much of a bad guy in this drama.

LMAO. “You’re just their dog.”

Wait, where are you going, Mr. President?

Oh, this time it’s set to 10 seconds.

OH MY FUCKING GOD. That was completely out of nowhere. And lasted one second.

And what the f*ck. A flash-forward? Complete WTFery right here. *mental breakdown*

Less than half left.

I can’t take this right now. WHAT THE F*CK???

He died. If only Kim Do Jin died with him.

Obviously, Tae Kyung.

At least his friend didn’t die. ๐Ÿ™‚ (half smile)

Although he looks a little different, LOL.

Money?

Denial.

OMG, Kim Do Jin died. *celebration*

Yeah, I guess he’s right.

And the prosecutor is right, too. I hope that’s a reality…

Wait, Prosecutor Choi Ji Hoon died, too? Suddenly sad…

No, he didn’t! HAPPY. ๐Ÿ™‚

David Choi’s music in the background. โค

What, they’re not dating, right? Not so quickly after the whole incident?

Yay, she was promoted, too. (Hehehe…)

She’s not a sergeant anymore, dude.

LOL, flirting and jealousy.

What’s Tae Kyung’s job now, water delivery guy?

Cute.

To meet you, stupid. LOL.

Oh, ok. Still working for the PSS?

HAHAHAHA.

Hopefully close to my place? LMAO.

Ah, flashbacks…

It’s very cute and all, but why is the romance suddenly taking over the last half of this episode?

It’s supposed to be a finale!

Even then he held her like he loved her.

How long has it been, for him to be okay?

AWWWW… The president died… ๐Ÿ˜ฅ *shedding a flood of tears*

T____T

Aw, they include flashbacks for the friendship line, too. Yay for male-female friendship!

She’s very lucky to have survived.

HAAH… Stop making me cry (on the inside)…

<3<3<3

OMFG, HE’S ALIVE. WTF? LOL.

Yay, a perfect happy ending?

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY.

How it should’ve been… ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

(Although many people did die… At least the president survived?)

Oh my god, only four minutes left.

Oh, so that’s why he ran. He was saving himself! YAY! ๐Ÿ˜€

Yay, Mr. President, for thinking so smart and wise. (The flashbacks were what was going through his head.)

Wow, “You’re All Surrounded” will premiere tomorrow. So fast!

Monstar: Final Episode

The highlights of “Monstar” were the music breaks, the Seol Chan-Se Yi couple, and the interactions between students in this drama. Set in high school, this was technically a coming-of-age story, but it brought a more healing sense/feeling in the drama. Ultimately, Se Yi comes to terms with the truth about her father’s death, Seol Chan finds that other half, who, through a series of events, allows him to open himself up to others, and Han Ji Woong (Se Yi’s father’s friend) slowly comes to connect back with the outside world. Almost all the characters in the drama are hurt mentally and spiritually, tortured “monsters” each in their own sense. With the experiences of our characters in high school, one could say that this drama truly reflects the saying, “์•„ํ”„๋‹ˆ๊นŒ ์ฒญ์ถ˜์ด๋‹ค,” or “It’s youth because it hurts.”

Miss Korea: Final Episode

Oh my god, I can’t believe I got to this point. I’m so excited!!! Now that Hyung Joon and his Vi Vi team has FINALLY started to get some success with their new lipgloss product, it’s time for Ji Young to find her own dream for her future. Honestly, I was pleased to find out that Yoon didn’t turn out to be just a dickhead who is trying to get Ji Young for himself, and (kind of) surprised when he took an action that was sincerely meant for Ji Young’s sake. I was kind of thinking along Hyung Joon’s idea of him, which now makes it more sad that Yoon never got to completely express his feelings for Ji Young. Although he wasn’t a very good wooer or didn’t seem like a very nice guy, he still really liked Ji Young. At least (the oh so attractive) Lee Ki Woo didn’t end up playing a very disappointing character. Personally, I’ve found Hyung Joon’s character to be very, put nicely, displeasing, mostly as a love interest for Ji Young. But I’ll get on that more later. The main thing I will be looking forward to in this final episode is the revealing of Ji Young’s dream, and especially how she gets to discover, or develop that dream. If this drama is able to deliver on that, I’ll consider that a win. So far, most (about 80-90%) of the drama has been solid and very satisfying for a long-time Korean drama watcher like me, so I really hope they don’t disappoint with this finale. Hwaiting, drama! ๐Ÿ™‚

***

Although it’s kind of ์•„์‰ฌ์›Œ(?) that President/Director Ma never gets to have a deep emotional connection with Ji Young and her other trainees, I think it sticks to her character and personality, and at least Ji Young gets to have her as a mother-like person and role model, and she does help Jae Hee and become close with her.

It’s a start! ๐Ÿ˜‰

It kind of is all thanks to her, to be honest. :/

Yeah, so unexpected of him!

But seriously, where and how did he learn to cook?

Hehe, switching of traditional gender roles. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. But Hwa Jung has also lived by herself a long time, too. Right? Maybe because he didn’t have as much money, so he ate at home, and Hwa Jung had the money to eat out?

Why won’t she tell him?

LOL.

Oh, he’s finally telling her about Yoon! What will her reaction be?

She’s surprised.

They never know unless you tell them. It’s the unwritten rule of love.

Laptop has overheated. Switch to phone.

This is harder than I thought it would be…

How about we do this? Watch on the phone, type this on my laptop. So much easier. *relieved*

Actually, I think I’ll be able to watch on my laptop without being caught. We’ll try this…

Oh no. What did you do, Choon Ja?

Ah, such a shame.

She’s too naive, oh poor soul.

Of course, you too. LOL.

No, you should’ve quit! But is he lying? It’s so weird that it’s trying to be a good thing… *mind boggled*

HAHAHAHA. See the look on his face!!! XD

He’s a good negotiator, you gotta give him that.

OH NO. LOL. (22 revisions and counting)

Hehe.

Ugh, I can’t stand Lee Ki Woo in this. *fangirl dies*

I took a screenshot, but the quality isn’t very good. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Aw, did you learn something from all those years? *pats head*

He said she’s his first love!!! LUCKY GIRL.

Ah, I just remembered! In the last episode, right after she realized she didn’t have a dream, he called her, asking about her future plans, and saying that he would support her. Oh my god, I am loving this character arc the writer gave for Yoon! He can at least help her achieve her dreams. T_T โค

Ah, I was too early on that. Well, at least he could give her a few good last words?

I’ve realized how Yoon is the only one who’s asked Ji Young what she wants to do from now on. Even her boyfriend, Hyung Joon has never really asked her about her future plans. I’m glad Yoon is able to be a supportive admirer, a sturdy pole/pillar (OMG, “Flower Ramen Shop” flashback!) for his first love. This is also only one of the reasons why he would make a better partner for Ji Young than Hyung Joon in my opinion, and I’m glad the writer made Yoon into a more fleshed out character and a different second male lead. It makes me wonder, if Yoon had been able to sincerely express his feelings for Ji Young back in high school, would he have had a better chance with her?

Of course President Ma had deeper intentions. ๐Ÿ™‚

Aw, Yoon. Don’t smile so sadly… ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

I’m sorry, but Lee Sun Gyun looks way too old to be a high schooler.

Hahahaha.

The parent showdown.

I like this girl. So selfish. LOL.

Wait, did he rip that, or did his mom?

What’s Teacher in Jeju for?

OHHHH.

AW. LMAO at Hong Sam’s reaction.

Wait, Kang Woo liked her too?

They’re so random. LOL.

Jung So Min cameo!

But isn’t she really short? O_O

8 more minutes, and it seems Ji Young won’t find her dream yet.

I hate people who always say, ” I’m ignorant,” “ >_<

Hehe, switching of roles again!

It’s Onew’s voice… โค

And it’s the end, with a kind of summary.

Waikiki. ๐Ÿ™‚

THE END!!!

***

I have finally finished this drama. Yay!!! It took me a while, maybe I’m getting too old for this, LOL. I guess my fastest will be three days for the 16 episodes of “You’re Beautiful.” I’m glad I got to watch “Miss Korea,” it was put on my radar when various people raved about it, and I got the chance to check it out this spring break. To be honest, it wasn’t a cracktastic fun kind of drama, but it was a very heartwarming drama with a satisfyingly rich story. Usually, a fun drama makes me overlook its flaws because it’s so entertaining, but “Miss Korea” was able to work my brain and let me see its flaws, which I think is a good thing.

First of all, a big round of applause for having such an awesome and beautiful (both inside and out) heroine. This drama was her story, which is very rare in the land of Korean dramas. She isn’t your typical female lead, where she isn’t completely nice and innocent (as seems to be the default for most female characters), but she isn’t cold as ice either (I’m looking at you, rom-com workplace dramas with “strong” female leads, for example “I Do, I Do,” and most recently on a softer note, “I Need Romance 3). In that aspect, the writer did a fantastic job of writing such a complex character like Ji Young. Spunky, she has the guts to stick up for herself when needed, and cannot stand injustice in front of her eyes. Although sheย likes to pretend like she is the foxy, sly type when it comes to guys, in reality she is the type of girl who ends up loving only one man her whole life. In love, she remains her brave and straightforward self, never hesitatingย to express her love and staying true to her feelings. However, she is very naive and unsure of herself at times, and often depends too much on the love of her life, Hyung Joon. One of the few things I had a problem with in this drama was when Ji Youngย was persuaded by Director Ma to do the breast implant surgery, but in the end her mind is changed by Hyung Joon’s words. Ideally, I would want that last decision to give up the surgery to be made solely on her terms, her own thinking, but to a certain extent, I understand why she would do that. It’s still consistent with her character, and shows that she isn’t completely perfect. Therefore, this only makes it more believable that a character like Ji Young could exist in real life. ๐Ÿ˜‰

In the beginning, I said that I would talk more about Hyung Joon. Honestly, I did not like his character, probably more so because he was such a disappointing love interest for Ji Young. From a Korean woman’s perspective, he would be one of the worst dating/marriage candidates, mainly in terms of money. Throughout most of the drama, the only thing he did was pull Ji Young back and continue defending his stupid self-confidence and self-esteem. I got that Ji Young loved him, but all I could think when they were together was that Ji Young was too good for Hyung Joon. It didn’t help that Lee Sun Gyun played his role in a very off-putting arrogant demeanor, and everything he did (I mean EVERYTHING) put him in bad terms with me. I’m almost sure he did that on purpose, to make Hyung Joon’s character more hateful. It’s so weird, because he was very cool/attractive in “Coffee Prince.”

Overall, “Miss Korea” is a watching experience I’ll never forget. I think this is one of the first dramas I’ve seen that had all 3D characters, each with their respective moments to shine, and fleshed out as real people interacting with each other. Seriously, I cannot think of one character that could’ve/should’ve been thrown out, from the slightly conniving Yang Choon Ja’s dreams of becomingย number one as a runner-up her whole life, to Jung Sun Saeng’s story of rising up and becoming more than some mere gangster. Although I initially wanted a clearer and more definite ending to this drama, I’m satisfied with how realistically everything concluded, with Ji Young looking forward to finding her real dream, on an open-ended note. You know I’ll always be rooting for our special girl, the Miss Korea of 1997. ๐Ÿ™‚

I haven’t blogged here in a while, but I’m writing this post just to say that “์–‘ํผํ•œ ๋Œ์‹ฑ๋…€” might just be my new drama crack. ย I’m always looking forward to watching the newest episode. I like it more than I thought I would, and have unknowingly fallen in love with it. It has just the right feeling of a romantic comedy.

You’re Beautiful: Episode 6

Highlights

  • The next day, Mi Nam’s manager, Manager Ma, finds her asleep on top of Tae Kyung. He imagines the most hilarious and weirdest situations that could’ve happened to lead to this.
  • Mi Nam’s aunt comes over to their room and wakes up Tae Kyung by patting him on the butt, which he finds highly uncomfortable and an invasion of his personal space.
  • He Yi makes a visit to A.N.JELL’s company in order to see Tae Kyung, but he refuses to let her into the recording studio. She threatens him and says that she will find out who the mysterious girl he was with the other night is. He Yi stops by the rehearsal room, where Mi Nam is, and makes the (slightly) suspecting comment that Mi Nam doesn’t feel like a guy. Mi Nam gets to know that Tae Kyung supposedly likes He Yi, which makes her feel all tingly again. He Yi catches Mi Nam with the other A.N.JELL members, and gets very jealous of how well everyone treats her.
  • A.N.JELL’s CEO announces that Mi Nam will be releasing her own single before the release of their sixth album.
  • The stalker reporter comes to a conclusion that the mysterious girl might not have been Yoo He Yi after all.

Reflections

I’ve been (officially) watching Korean dramas for 2-3 years now. During that short time, I’ve managed to watch many dramas, despite the fact that I’m still in school, and therefore maybe had more than my fair share, in a way. I can now be considered an expert, at least in terms of experience, aka the number of hours I’ve invested in Korean dramas. SO MANY HOURS. Now, I’ve come to the point where I can’t afford to spend my time on worthless dramas, or at least, I don’t have the patience and tolerance in me to do that.

Therefore, I have vowed to myself to be a lot more careful when choosing dramas to watch from now on. I know that they’re mostly a source of entertainment for me, but I feel like they should still be worth the watch, the spending of (almost) endless hours staring at a screen. Even if it’s just for fun, my dramas will still have an impact on me, and I choose to watch those that leave me with generally good feelings, and if possible, some kind of realization/revelation or lesson learned through all of it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

There’s also the fact that I have several dramas that I’ve dropped or have on hold, as of now. About those… I’ve decided that I will need to come up with at least one or two valid reasons for picking them up or continuing to watch them. For example, I feel the need to pick up “King of Dramas,” because it’s literally about the Korean drama-making industry. “My Name Is Kim Sam Soon,” because so many people say they like it, but honestly because I’m so close to finishing it (and it’s not that bad of a drama).

In conclusion, I’ve come to the point that at least 70-80% of my drama watching will be decided in terms of worth, the rest for pure entertainment and according to my mood/feeling. I hope I get to keep this promise! ๐Ÿ™‚

I Need Romance 3 OST

Peppermoon – Peu A Peu

J’ai une fleur chez moi
Qui pousse, qui pousse
Sans l’arroser vraiment
En douce, en douce
Inexorablement
Elle pousse, elle pousse
Et son parfum me prend

Je ne la voyais pas
D’abord, d’abord

Peu a peu, insensiblement

On y pense, on rรชve, on sourit

Peu a peu, insensiblement
